Lake Chutes

Went up to the hill with my brother in law and we skied up high. I have to say I like the fact that I can make laps so easy up there and now their is a comedy show to go with it. People hiking up and falling over people hiking down and those almost keeling over from the alitude,... Humor and sking call it fun... The end id near..!

This to me is a crock of shit for years we have had to deal with only one grocery store in town and even when the snow is comming and the gappers are not here it still sucks.. It looks like people were getting ready for a hurricane. No bread on the shelves no fresh friut and people fighting over dairy. The stores are using the big snows in denver to say that is why but I say bull shit.. I love these mountains but it is times like this that make me say huh!! Yes this little valley has hit the limmit on how many folks can be here at once. If you want some real humor go to the sled hill and watc the mass of humanity...

Rush hour

Went back out on the hill to jump with the kid today. I went out on the park skis so I could hit rails and not mess up the new ones. Sophia is starting to get the jumping thing it was just tough today because of all the people.. We have more snow on the way and that could be a good thing powder does not suck. I could ski for a bit more than it is time to start to ride bikes again.. I heard today that Maverick is back on board for next season which is good because they make one of the best squishy forks on the market. Now I just have to wait and see who else comes on board.. Skiing is good and bike are better I think that I need to get back out on the skate skis for awhile.. New music new old music but good stuff to hear...

Well it has come and gone just as fast as it got here. Birthday came and we got out on the hill under bluebird skys. Then a trip to the folks place to open gifts and do the christmas thing. Kid were good and got stuff they wanted and we got to see my brother and his kids.. Now we rest the boy plays with his train and the girl does what ever a 11 year old does. Warmer days are on their way which means dirt and sun..go look at steve in sedona at garro's site.. I hope all are well and have had a good time with their friends and family... Merry christmas to all and to all a good night..

I got to run raps up in the lake shoots a place that for years you had to do a 25 min hike to the

top of peak 8.. Now just pop your skis off and do a 4min hike and you are

there. The snow in zoot shoot was knee to waist deep thick and rich and i got to be the first one in.. Did a few more up there some were amanzing and others skechy with lack of snow. Aim for the center of the gully.. sking with the kid tomrrow and she should have a blast.. More snow on the way??? Me and the new skis are getting along, I just have to stayon top...

Stiff and bitter

I am up dating the wily with a carbon fork from pace this should drop the weight a little and the good floks at sun race are sending me a set of hub to fresh'n' up the wheels.. And to top it off a pair of carbon mtb shoes , this will make it a nice stiff birthday, I though t about new skis but the ones that have work well.. The guys at sun race are working on a new web site to help roll out their new drive train and shifters. They have been so good to me over the years and I can't wait to help them put a bite in to the big companys.. Still no snow is going to come?

war on christmas?

Well it is the christmass time of the year again and that means that people everywhere will spend them selves silly. They will buy what the tv tells them weather or not they have the money.. Here it is simple we have no money so we wont spend our wads until it hurts.. I know that I am not ever going to be a big wig who has tons of cash and all the sweet do dads and that is ok I just need to get above the poverty line which means getting out of breck.. I love here the mountains and the blue bird days but not being a trustafarian and not having a high paying job I strugle. I want simple I want easy I want no more " where is the money coming from"? Enough bitching it could be worse we could be totaly shit house broke the kid are healthy and seem to be well adjusted, and will get to have a lot more when we get to Wisco... Now if would just snow so I can spend the last days of 32 in powder, because if I can't ride a bike I want to ski.. I take that back I can ride the rollers now that xc is over but fat powder shots would be nice.. It can always be worse I could be in Iraq fighting a was that has no end for some dip shit who thinks that he is doing good....... All in all i do have it good , but it can get better!!!!!

Photos were hard to come by with the boy running and hitting on all the girls , but I think that these two work.. These guys were getting pulled in by a sled going 30 mph and getting up to 20+ feet in air,,. We saw some geat stuff dudes tossing airs for 5000$$$.. Shitty music some dj crap hell but the airs were sick.. I do think that james liked the bus ride there and back the best..

I want to be so sleepy like this photo pf james that I fall a sleep on the floor.... I got a set an old set of roller from a co worker and I have to say they are much more of a work out than my trainer.. I like the fact that I can't space so far out that I almost fall a sleep... Have not crashed yet and don't want to jinks it.. we need snow this global warming thing is making it ugly around here some freah snow would cover the dog crap in the yard..

Over hang

You know you are getting old when you stay out late and can't recover. I can do a lot but not getting sleep wrecks me. I think that my hangover had a hangover, oh well .. Skied a bit on the hill this weekend and the snow needs some help like two feet or more would be nice it would give me something to do at work.. Not being on a bike is getting a little old just need it to warm up down in the big D. Here is a pic of the kid out today on the hill looking good just needs to get that eye of the tiger and she will be killing it...

Cow Boy

Got another skate ski in today things are starting to click better, good work and what felt like a lot of hill climbing.. Still on the look out for another pair of skis the pair I have need to go back, I have one lead but need to shake the money tree.. Getting new gear wont be that bad there is skate skiing back in the midwest.. All this time on snow is just making me want to ride a bike more than back and forth to work. That was one of the great things about flagstaff the mnt was so much higher than the town so I could snow up there and be dry down below, plus sedona is just down the street.. My boy calls this his cowboy outfit not sure what kind but ok!!!

Shhhhhhh!!!!

Warmer today than it has been so I went out to get some skate skiing in. Quite and smooth even though I still fell like a cat on ice, still need to get my grove.. But it felt good felt like I did something to raise my heart rate.. I don't like the fact that the gondola is going thorugh the gluch but I can't stop the evil empire....

Downhill nordic

Got out on the tele skis today not expecting much because it was cold and the lifts were full yesterday. Got up on the upper mnt and the snow was great esp. because the wind was blowing bown the mnt and it made for the sweet velvet snow that can happen in the bowl. Ran in to a bunch for freaks that I took laps with it was nice to see some old faces. Thick fresh snow and fast turns made the 4 hours of skiing fly by...

It was cold on the way to work today the kind of cold that you breath in and freeze your lungs. fun day of work blew out two tires on the skid steer that I was drving always fun to break something when you should not be in it in the first place.... After a full day of watching people kum and go from the ski hill it made me want to go and ski.. And ski I did,,,.. I was not to cold on the hill because their was not any wind so from 3 to four I ripped turns all over the mountain. I started on 10 and got 4 really good runs the skis were really pushing through all the new snow, and after that hit the rails in the park and was ready to call it a day when the lifts were still turning... Ok so it is 4 0 2 and they let me on the lift for one last one run. I chose e chair because more bang for your buck.. It was worth it not untracked buk big pillows to push through and make sweet turns,,,,.... More sking this weekend when it warms back up tomrrow they are only calling for a high or -1 so when I head in to work it should be really cold,,,, that reminds me I need to pull my bike in the house....Ca chow!!!!

Snow and cold

Crazy ride in this morning I was able to keep the rubber down. This afternoon was a little harder I did it but their were a few bobbles,I have to say it is fun get to a fro on the bike . Now that the snow is blown through here comes the cold highs only in the teens....

Some photos of thanksgiving morning, i could not get enough of the single track I could have ridden all day.. Ate some food and drank some beer with family that I don't see to often .. then.. Back in the car for the drive home.. Went on the hill with sophia on sunday morning Felt good to be on skis and beingin the fresh air and not int he car. We jumped and hit some rails and check out the upper mnt.. We could use some sonw.... If the front range is dry for christmass i think that the mnt bike is cooming... More dirt and more single track MORE MORE MORE!!!!!

Warm

Again another warm day here in the heartland of these united states. I went out on a road ride to get some fresh air and see some cows.. It was good to get the speed up and feel the warm air and see cows lots and lots of cows.. I can't help but tell them how I plan on eating them soon.. A good day in the saddle other than the fact that I had cross winds almost the whole day. Some good hills to climb and go down and cows lots of cow shit..... Had dinner at my folks country club last night and I am on the fence on how the food was it was all cooked well just not what I think of when it comes to the money they have to spend to be there... It is not rocket science just cook good food and make people happy I come from a different background... Mountain bike ride in the morning and then strap on the food bag..... Have fun everybody..........

impressed

Had another great day on the moutain bike, warmer temps and sun in the sky. I made it out to the human power trails this time I had a better Idea of where I was going. These trails are on town owned land along with private land with much more to come. The trails rode great fast rolling sections with tight switchbacks and lots of fun log crossings. In all I got 25 miles on the bike and again it fells so good to ride trails this late in the year. I think when I get home I am going to want to go out to the desert.. Road tomrrow and a good steak tonight then bring on the the bird,,,.,..

14 years ago a young DMC was just learning about mountain bikes and hills and desents. Before then bikes were just a way to get from here to there. I came down from the cities to vist my brother in college. He and his friends all had some kind of bikes any thing from a stumpjumper to an old haro. Me I was on my new fisher and even back then I thought I was the shit. After some pregame we all headed out to the hills for some biking. The ride took us up hedge hog bluff all the way to the top it was a single track climb that topped out with a view of the city. after a regroup we flew down the twisty desent, not knowing the area I was trying to keep up and missed a turn and locked up the brakes launching my self ass over and laned in a rotted out tree. Now this was a long time ago and I had not been back since. well I went there yesterday to try to find this old trail. It was still tere but not as I rembered it . The climb was still the same and the desent had not changed much but my bike had and and before I knew it the ride was over. It was just a blip in my review mirror. I made it over to a trail the locals call the TNT which takes you from the valley flor back up to the top of the bluff it reminded me of the grind section of penn's gluch. Once you make it to the top their is a large trail system that is ever expanding. It is good to see the folks here trying to make mtb. trails work here. It was nice to be out on the mountain bike so late in november I'll get out on the road bike next and look for greg lemond before I get back out on the fat tires.. when i get back to my computer I 'll post some photos....

lift

Rode the chair lift today and the sking was fun. I did forget how my your legs work when you ski down. Took some laps on E chair and the snow was great only little trees sticking up. I talked to some folks that said the trails in western wisco were still dry. So the Wily(Dean)is coimming.. Long drive but beer is on the other side..

Spot on the snow

Their is snow comming or that is what the experts say. I would be nice to open more stuff on the hills. I got out today and got 45 min of nordic skiing. It is funny how much the first few times works me. It isn't like riding a bike beace with that I never really stop with the nordic their is a big break between spring and fall. I met a guy today that is the boyfriend to the owner of Spot.. That means he gets to ride a spot, prety cool. Good skiing only going to get better, more to open soon. First big test of 2007 in zoina on my old stomping ground..sounds like fun..

Snowmute

The ride in to work this morning was a good one a test of balance and the abilty to see. It was not snowing that much but with a headlamp hung over your eyes it is a blinding expenince.. I got my first day in my glass case of distruction, I knocked out main street and I was done. I got to come home eairly today because james was not 100% for school. Now three hours have passed since I went to work and a lot more folks were out on the roads.. This ride was not as easy as the one at 5:30. It was like riding on an ice rink no traction and going up hill now that was a challange.. The hill is open so bring on the snow from now on if I want dey ground it is off to hte front range..

Good things to come!!

Another good day on the bike and a lot of people out in the warm weather. I went up the col de swan and back though the highlands. It felt so nice to fell the warm air and the speed of flying down a nice hill. It sound like the wily might be up for sale, time to start thinking about new stuff.. A week and a half before going to wisco for t-day which means beer and food and more beer. Until then ride the bike and ski when the snow lets me. Thanks coach the wheels are so nice they go fast.......wathch out for the kung fu................

Enough

Go go go go ............ I got the road bike out after anna got back from the polls and it was just enough,.. 20 miles with the highland hills things felt good. The legs are moving the bike well and it makes me think.. Can I keep up the fittness up until the big show on dec.9th. If I can get some ridding in while we are in wisco for t-day and get back to the high country with lungs I think that a single speed cross race would be fun to end the year.. Things are still moving and the body feels good. Nordic racing is comming up soon.... speed speed speed I can't get enough of that.

Can't sit still..

If you know me you will agree that I am always moving my wife has even said that I pedal in my sleep.. That is why yesterday was so good for me. Nothing mind blowing just some good dirt good air and time spent in the saddle. Today marked the start of working 5 eight day after a summer of 4 10's. So here is the sitll problem I need want to get out and do stuff. Today I thought about riding but it looked like someting was blowing in so I went to the attic and moved some weights this is not what I needed. Soon the nordic center will have good snow and I'll start do some work there and getting out at 2;30 means that I can get a few runs in on the hill. I just have to drive a car to work which is something that I try hard not to do. I am just glad that I got my two wheeled fix,,.. Great Views

I had thought about racing in the front range but my heart wasn't in it. I wanted to just ride a bike and have fun on single track.. So C-Ball and my self headed down to BV.. What a nice day upper 50's low 60's and the riding was great. We started down by the river and climbed up to the train grade. From here it is a roller coaster ride through small canyons. Great views of the 14er's and sun.. We were able to get through the ride with out anyone getting hurt.. Single track in nov.. a good way to spend the day..

Easy like Sunday afternoon

Well it went from huge snow to warm sun that is life here. After a good ski tour on Friday and nordic on Saturday, Sunday was a bike day. I have to be the only one on the block who isn't racing cross just no dough to race. I went down to the big D with C-ball and hit the road. It was nice to get out and be warm it was 70 which is much warmer than here in breck. We went from the foothills to downtown, C-ball wanted to see Invesco feild I just wanted to spit on Bronco's fans. We fiped there and headed out to Chatfeild Res. and then back to the car. 3 hours and just a hair under 60 miles, a good day in the saddle. The new wheels from coach ruled fast and stiff.Coach is on a win streak another win this weekend with the big test comming up next week. Unless something bad happens it is his to win.. I want to try to get out to Friuta this weekend and ride some single track and mabye some road we'll see what happens.... "The loud feedback in the morning makes me smile"

DId he jump or did I throw him?

Crazy how it can snow one day and the next be in the 50's.. Played with the kids out in the snow for a good while I think that james really likes the snow ,now to get him on skis. Got a small nordic ski in it was late in the day so the snnow that had been in the sun all day started to freeze up.. Might make it to the big D for some road riding. We'll see what happens......

Skinning and Grinning

Did not want to go out solo but with c-ball in wolf creek and no Doctor I just went for it... It was a good up ski, sun was out and it wasn't cold just nice. I climbed up to Union and the top of peak 10.. Came down coarseair and it was up to waist deep. You had to have your speed up and once you did you could float in the deep snow. Once to the bottom I climbed to the top of peak 9 and came down Devils Croth. At of the end of oct. it is nice to get to ski powder. It was a good day on the hill I really like the up skiing. Mabye nordic tomrrow .

5:30 and fell'n' fine

Woke up to a blanket of white today. steped off the poarch and the snow was over my knee. The street in front of my house was not even plowed yet.. SO out of the hood and on to work,,. The main drag only had one pass made on it so speed and handling were a factor. With the head lamp on the snow blew in my face and it was hard to see,,. I made it never laied it down not as far of a commute as coach. A long day of pushing snow but thatis ok going to up ski and get some face shots and knee drops... Might even be able to get a ski pass,,. that would make things fun.

White stip of death nordic style

After a day of up skiing and the deep snow going down I did not plan on anything today.. Sinking in to the chair the phone woke me up and the boss wanted to go nordic skiing. They got all the snow pushed down and opened half for the green loop. We did some back and forth and a few loops 45 min in all felt good just differnt, still want to be on the bike. No money today to race cross mabye a few more or just get ready for nordic racing.. Got some live sonic youth holy shit it is good..

Thick and Rich

Here are some pics from my up ski today at the empire of breckenridge. Great ski up we went almost to the top of 4 o'clock. Found some fresh snow phycopath and back over to 4 o'clock. From the vista hut we went down high A and againg the snow was good just sometimes a lot of work because the sun had come out and changed layers. It was fun got me out of the house, still is not cycling but it was nice to get face shots. Now I need to find out how to get a ski pass....

It's back!!!!

Woke up this morning to a foot plus on the ground,.. This might stick this time. Moving the snow off the drivway was as much fun as I rembered. I rode the cross bike in the snow for about an hour yesterday.. Took a dirt road up out of the crack to the top of gold run road... This was good because if I sat down I did not have enough spin to move the bike and if I stood and cranked to hard the bike spun out... Got to the top and followed the gold run race course had to run some sections because of the amount of snow then it was time to go down.. Cross brake are not made to stop a bike esp.. when they are wet.. The desent back to the house was the hardest part of the day.. It was nice to get out of the house and it felt like good pratice for cross,, although I might not have enough $$ to race tomrrow so I'll work on getting my ass grove in the living room chair..

Ahhhhh Crap

Here is what happend to me this weekend in brek... That is me in the back trying to get my chain back on. This pic is from last season I was in a tight race with the guy in the front of the pic for the bar/bat overall.. I am not going for any overall this year just want to stay fit and have some good results.... Mabye this weekend in boulder? We'll see.... Until then snow riding and bike trainers....

AM ICE

Not the 18" they said only 1" so I think that they were off a little. The roads were scraped down to ice which made the ride in to work a balancing act.. 5:30 in the morning with loud moudhoney dark glare comming up from the ice now is this just traning for wisco? The best part of the ride in other than not crashing was the ballfeild lights were still on which were brighter than my headlight.... I want to go ride in the desert...... Fruita would be fun one more time....

Better

Things went better today and I think that I likes the course better. A good amount of folks at the line again and me being the only one on a single. Go we took off to the single track and I was where I wanted to be, big run up and some more dirt then a big down. As we rolled thorugh the frist lap I grab the lead for a bit but it was not where I wanted to be. I like to sit in and move when I can so as two guys came around I did that. I sat in 3 for most of the race going back and forth with a VC rider. It wasn't till the middle of the 6th lap someone made a move on me and I jsut watched. Still sore from my crash and slow from the PBR(drank heavy not thinking I would race on sun), I held on for 5th.. Could have been better but it is what it is. The Hood did well again with both Coach and Cross Crazy with wins. More to come? money is the problem need to find work in wisco.

Off the ground

Ok so I have not been racing on the weekends and my fitness is not the best but I though I would give I a shot.. At the line there was at least 30 or so riders and all new faces except for cheeks... I wanted to get off the front and let thing sort them selfs out... So go was the word and I took the whole shot,,. I had it until after the bridge where in the moon dust corner and I thought this would be a good place to lay the bike down... So after crashing and picking my self up the ground I sat in 9th or 10th not where I wanted to be.. So on the peadles I fought back through the hacks and got in to 4th sitting on 3rd. With one lap to go all hell broke loose on my chain and I packed it in. Once the cain comes off it doesn't go back on.... Tim had another win and so did cross crazy.... I could see doing some more races after the pain in my side goes away......

Gears???

I think that I have things sorted out with the bike 44x20 more spin.. The biggest problem for me is the running.. Not what I am good at but the riding part I can turn the pedals.. An hour on the cross bike and another hour on the road bike little over 30 miles in all.. We'll see what the day has in store for me.. At least I am not all crazy about the with strip of death... New tape is sometimes all you need....

Cold and windy that was this afternoon... I think that i need 2 more teeth for my cross racing less push and more spin.. Got 45 mins on the bike today with a lap on last years cross tack... I am glad that they moved it back up to the nordic center it is cool there going over the bridge and trough the tunnel.. Things might change a little with the that dumb gondola going in but we'll see.. I need to make a few changes to the bike and a little work on friday and I should be ready to go.. It has been a month since I raced last but I have been tring to stay on the bike as much as i can...

Doughnuts+Belly=

The road bike was not ready yesterday so I went out on the 9ER for some high country fun.. The Tour OF Breck Loop was nice and dry. I do have to say that I am shocked to see that they (and i don't know who they are) cleaned and removed all the rocks from Gold Hill trail... This use to be one of the hardest up/downs around but know it is a smooth super highway of a trail.. It was a good ride 26 miles in all and I was able to stay dry the whole time..... Now I thought that I had a good weekend of single riding but Tim G he is the man,,,.. Getting ready for the moab circus he we out and loged 105miles on his single fixed... The triangle a loop that goes from summit to vail to leadvill and back to summit.. That is huge... Sophia had her Middle School champ race today and it went great.. It was a nice day in Beaver Creek and her school had a good showing... She got fist place for 6th grade girls and her school won the overall.... Cross next weekend? we'll see I am ready for something....

Red and Green

Ski area's are fun for riding a bike.. Got out and did a lap on the breck race track which is some of the best single track the hill has.. Stuff was dry and it was warmer than I thought.. Got home and still wanted more so I jumped on the cross bike and went down to frisco.. I went looking for the frisco cross course but could not find anything marked.. So back to breck throught the highlands and on the upper flume to finninsh/.. The gearing on the cross bike is great for what I did enough to push up the bigger hill and still fast on the desents.. What does today hold?? Don't know would like to get out on the road bike and try the new wheels but we'll see what the weather has in store..

Whats to come

I don't know.. What ever happens to me I hope that it can be as cool as things here.. Yea life can be tough living in a resort town things cost more and people come and go,but their is a good network of great people who help each other out.. I got my new road wheels tonight so I can get my bikes in order. I want to make some changes to the cross and get it ready for what ever happens in cross. Make a quick start in 4's and get my up grade to 3's. I could start in 3's but I want to get one under my belt before I start getting my ass kicked.. Tomrrow would be a good mountian bike day if the weather holds but it could be a road day we'll see.. I heard from Tim G who raced with me on a wily 29er this summer he is getting ready for the 24 moab race and his frame is broken.... This sucks because wily closed it's doors and getting the frame fixed is hard and replaced is out of the question.. Watch out for tim at the 24 race because what ever bike he is going to be on will be fast..... Do ya think the bkb will let me in???????

John Denver full of shit?

Sunshine on my shoulder does make me happy.. I tried on friday to ride the fat tires up hill and things got a little mushy. So I swiched bikes and went out on the road. This was a good idea just rember to switch your tubes brom mtb to road. Not a lot of good a 29er tube will do ya when you get a flat on the road bike.. A quick frisco and back on sat just enough to get it done..Sat night the talk arounf the house was anna wants to get the fu*# out and back to Wisco because life there is better than here.. I am on the fence, I like this state and could relocate some where here.. All that aside I got some good dirt miles in today yes i would have loved to go and race cross this weekend but the mountain bike was so nice. Black sheets of rain

More frozen rain this time of year than I have ever seen.. I saw lines down the front of the bowl and in the ballroom and other places that this eairly is crazy. I got out on friday between snow and rode for fifty min and laied low on sat due to more Dales Pale Ale than I should have had . The sun came out on sunday and I got out with coach and a few other folks and put in 40 good miles before we ran in to piles of snow.. My Cross Cazy neighbor had a good weekend of racing with a win and a two.. i am going to try to line up soon just need to get more money....... If you have not done it yet check out Steve Garro's Blog, it has almost been a year since he had his run in with a Truck.. It is great that he is still with us and getting better every day.. Want a custom bike he is the man to talk to /////..././././

Can't win so why try???

Ships creaking taking on bullshit so I scream jump ship jump ship.............. Their are days that I just don't want to do it any more... I just want to go to a warm place and be in the sun... Is it because there is 4 inches of snow ont he ground and itis only sept 21? I dont't know at least I have Clean socks.....

Two Nickes One Dime

Warm today but does not sound like it will last long.. Cold tomrrow with sonw on the way. This should make the racing this weekend intersting.. Went up the hill and back down on one of the last days of indian summer I love riding Mountain Bikes.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Hand ball anyone on a clay court now that is fun... Fast Dirt quick corners and long climbs it don't get much better.. Rest now and get ready for the Mudfest (Fall Classic).. I lie her naked you lie here naked why are we differnt???

Ice Box

Not a warm one I think that it was warmer in Green Bay but that still did not help.. Their is 2000 vertical feet between my house and the top of little french. It was a nice spin up to that point even with the temps today hovering around 35.. Mondays is comming and that means that I need to work and clean up after the drunks on main street,,,...,,, It is my street to take care of... Skiped the banana belt today I chose to just ride this weekend and get ready for the Fall Clasic. Sounds like a good amount of people are going to show up for our little stage race.. Next weekend is the start of cross I think so the skiny tire freaks will have something to do.. I am not talking shit about cross just not getting super crazy for it. I don't need to be out getting on and off the bike and doing quick starts, I am on a single it is all of that all the time..My goal for cross is to not finnish last and to bunny hop the barriers .. we'll see..;,;,,.,;,'

Drunkfest 2006

This is the time of year that the Town of Breckenridge shuts down main street and has notsoberfest. Don't get me wrong I like beer as much as the next guy but not being part of the beautiful people of breck I don't make it to the party.. Last year their was across race on sat and one on sunday. But the date has been changed and the race here in breck has a venue which will not be as good as the old one. Cross is not on my mind as much as it was last year I'll show up for a few but not going to chase any points this year. I want to keep riding on the Mtb untill I can't anymore. Today the temp was only 38 but with the right clothes it was great no one on the trails and with the wind last night the leaves have started to hit the ground.. It is now a Blur of color up and down any way you look..... I want to go to the desert and ride in the dirt there.. Getting out of town would be good but untill then layers and more riding.. Only 6 days away from the fall classic...!!!!!!!!!!!

Riding through Holes

Today was one of those days in the high country that it poured over there but not over here.. It day started with black skys and I thought nothing would happen after I got done eating breakfast at DD.. The sun broke out and I got to ride with C-Ball.. We went out to the colorado trail and took it kind of easy because his shoulder is still hurtting from his crash.. We managed to ride from one sun hole to the next sun hole and never got wet... We wnt up the North fork up to the junction of westridge and flipped there because it was wet in Keystone. The we rode the trailer park section to the bike path because it was not wet there.. All in all it was a good day.. Now if the rest of the weekend can hold up to the weather today.. If you don't have anything going next weekend come and ride the Fall Classic.........................................................................

Getting Tanked

I had no plan on riding a bike other than to work, but soon after I cracked a PBR my wife asked me if I was going riding? So I pounded the suds and got dressed and off I went at 6:30. Today was the first blue bird day in a while and I was soooo nice to be out even if it was late. I did the tank loop up from carter park and over to bakers tank.. I was able to get back to the house in 1hour and 2 min.. which to me is good it is only 12 miles but it goes straight up then down. Came in the door and got to have a warm meal and another pbr! Now if I could stop the noise from my bottem bracket..... If you have never heard Smash your herd on the Punk Rock you need to get your hands on it. Sebadoh when they first got togother could make some noise...

Mondays?? Another one down only 3 days from the weekend... I have got one chain ring bolt that keep on comming loose which makes shit creak,,,,... Only an hour tonight and it was in the rain. Went out to the nordic center and did lap on the short corse for the fall classic. This is a sweet track for a single speed race 6 times around a 1.8 track with a small wall you go up 6 times.. It was good esp.. in the rain I think laps will be around 6 to 7 mins. Going to take a rest day tomrrow might go and ride with boy and work on his wheelies....

When is it time to call it quits

It is the regular season unless you are the pack. At this point I think that the summit tigers could beat them. I got out and worked out the first part of the fall classic. From my house the hill goes up for a little while. At an easy pace it took an hour to get to the top. Because it was raining I came home and it only took 13 to get down the hill..... One hell of a hill. I can't wait to get that race on it is one good race...

Wheelies on a trike

Ahhh Fall that time of year when the trees change and their is a nip in the air and like today snow on the peaks.. I got to ride with Daver and his buddy eric and the legand C-ball. It has be forever and ever that I have ridden with him. We rode on the ski hill which is getting ready for people from all over to come and stand in line... Went to the top and came down the game trail.. This is a good ride this time of year because the chair lifts are shut down and no one is around. Today was nice because I got to ride with people instead of being solo. This also ment that I could slow down and not hammer my self.. Slow is good it is just hard for me to take it easy...... Sophia did well in her xc race she said it was cold but not some thing that she could not do. Her brother and I did laps round the hood,. He is doing awsome on the trike. He is trying to pop a wheelie and trying really hard.. Hopefully more mtb tomrrow in the crisp fall air, before having to go back to work...

Waiting for the warm

Snow on the peaks this morning. A reminder that winter can be here at any time.. I don't know if the trails will be as nice as they were yesterday.. I would love to ride the mountian bike again but the road bike might have to do! On the fence with the banana belt next weekend. It is not the hardest race but can also not be all that fun. It is also 5 day out from the fall classic so it would be a good warm up to help with the slow that is stuck in my legs...

riding the storm out

Well it took most of the day but I finally made it outside and rode a bike. It has not been often here in summit but that it rains all day but today was one of them. It was more socked in than anything. The trails were dry and really nice for riding on. got out on a baldy loop and top it off with peak 9 and 8. It was a kick ass day on the bike it just took a while for it to happen.. Could been snow on the ground in the morning. Sophia has a xc running meet in leadvill in the morning it is going to be cold..I have to work on getting the slow out of my legs !!!!!!!!!!

Flat Tires and wrong turns

Well the Mountian states cup is over the last one being at keystone.. It was a good season in the msc 6 races out of 10 with 2 second places I skiped all of the short tracks and the one hill climb. I finished in fourth which is one place better than last year. I think that if I did all the races I could fininsh higher just not sure about spending 40 buck to race 2 other guys for points!! Had a flat on sunday first one of the whole summer was sitting on the wheel of 3rd place as we hit the dirt road. This is what I wanted sit on him until he cracked and then pass and go fast. The air in my front tire had a another idea. Sophia got 2 out of 2 but she only fininshed 3 min out of 1.. She did great now if I could only get her to try a little harder and she would be killing people.. I know she is only 11 but she has so much more that she can do if she only tried a little harder. James the boy finally started to pedal his trike. He has turned in to a biking fool which is great because he has had this Trek trike for 3 months, I had no iead that it would weigh 30 pounds... Next up the fall classic...... hope the gas is still in the legs...... Get out and ride in the woods because snow is on the way!!!!!!!!!!!

29er's are bigger

Short and good a trip down to frisco and back. Not pushing it hard and still was able to get under an hour for the 20 miles.. It was nice to be on the road bike it has been a while. Going to race at keystone this weekend just going out to have some fun and rock the 29er on some fast single track..... I am ready to do some more fun mtb rides with the fall leaves changing,,,,....

sleep is gooder

I made it out for a 1 hour grind last night. It was nice to sprint up single track as the sun went down. Felt like I had unfinnished ridding to get after having gotten rained out this weekend. Made it up to mt. pride then over to the Tank again one of the best sections of 1 track around.. Ran in K-tron in the parking lot with his friend katy and we went down the aspen tunnel and the sun set.. Got home had a PBR and a pork chop and my head hit the pillow.. I love to sleep...

Spoiled

We have it good here in the land of summit county.. Out my front door is a maze of single track that is some of the best around here in the west. I have been other places and have ridden other single track but here, the quality is the best.. Flagstaff had some epic stuff but the forest would close due to fire danger.. The front range is crowed and the western slope is hot..... These are some of the reasons that I don't leave home to often to ride mtb bikes unless bike racing.. I know that the Butte is supposed to be the best . And I am not here to bash another town because the riding isn't good but it just seems like you have to spend so much time riding to the single track. And unless you have a town bike you are looked down on. I think that next time I go I will hook up with someone who can show me whats up.. But till that happens I ride the 1 track here and take my road bike on trips because I am spoiled..!!

weir bitch

Well I ened that week long of nothing with something.... It felt good to get out nobody was able to come and ride so I went solo.. The Colorado trail betwen Keystone and Breck is some of the best stuff around,.. I look foward to riding the 285 to highway 9 colorado trail ride.. That is nice to do in the fall/. Off to the Butte///

I am not the old one today

End of another weekend.,.which meas only one thing and that is I have to go to work and wait 4 more days to have another weekend.. Got out a few times on the mountian bike and it was nice.. Felt good to ride with out the weight of racing on my head.. I had fun just going out and climbing up hills and flying down desents... The family adn I are going to Crested Butte this comming weekend to hang out. The kids have never been there so they should have a good time.. I plan on doing the 401 trail, that is the one that everyone talks about... Until then some more rest and a little bike bike riding,, I am still tired... Happy Birthday to Anna,,,,,, Could not have done it with out you this summer,,,...!!!!!!!

3's

Well for the past three years I have goten third place at the breck brawl... Last year it was just enough to get me in to third for the overall and 3 two years ago third place cost me to loose the 1st overall by 4 points... Not last night I knew what I had to do going in to the night and at the start of the race thought I was not going to pull it off. Travis and chris and ryan were fast on the first lap and it took the whole firdt climb to catch back up.. Thank you 29er!!!! At the start of lap two I moved around chris and stayed there. At this point I need rayn to finish 1st adn travis 2nd.. It worked.. Chris did give me a scare at the line he started to charge on the up hill finnish and I had to sprint to the line... I don't know if he would have passed me at the line but if he would have that would have mad the differnce of 1st or 2nd on the year.... Thanks to all you out ther that have helped me have a great race season,,,....,.,.,.,

The further I go the futher back I get

Got an a mail this morning that the Wily Cylces is no more.. IT went on to say that the cost of running a bike co was to much and brad had to the the co go. I have to say that it was a great try and a good run.. The boulder proformance network part of the team is still intack and that is where Brad is going to put most of his time. Sad because the bikes ride so sweet and I have to say my 29er is the best bike I have ever ridden..... Just got back from a ride and can't tell how I fell the bike is running good I just can't tell if my body is where it needs to be my head is slowing me down.... 29er's get it done !!!!!!!!!!

Trees and downhills

One down and one to go... I have been told by my wife that I should not talk to the summit daily news any more beacuse I say to my dumb stuff.. I can't help it some times after races I am not thinking as clear as I would like.. But things went well I had to push my self hard and make some risky moves.. Hit one tree and scared my self twice.. Travis only had a few seconds on my and was only 45seconds behind the winner.. Next week is the last of the SMC races and it is on breckenridge mnt.. Just got to keep travis in my sights and ride a good race... Group ride with the kids torrow and that will be fun as long as no one gets hurt,,,.... Keep the rubber down and look out of assholes!!!!

Here comes the hills

Good weekend the big wheels are rolling over everyting and I love it.. Happy to get out of the woods with the kids and happy that George was not broken. I like working with the kids I gives me a good felling when they are killing it in the woods and grining ear to ear.. Put a new link on or hope that it made it there, but it is a link to Steve Garro's blog, check in see his stuff and hear how thing are going in Flagstaff. It would be nice to get there this fall but it might not be till spring... Work tomrrow and some free food and Eric's, Jeff's way of saying thanks for helping with the Firecracker. Not all people from Texas are bad?

I had some fun in the bike path this morning doing stop sign intervals. I always forget how much I love my road bike and how fast the two of us can go.... Today being friday it was a Little League group ride day,,.. We have been going to the afternoon sessions because it is better for sophia faster and longer rides. I got to lead the fast kids on the race course for wed.. We were having a blast flying up the single and fire roads, talking about when to pass or hammer or sit in.. A lot of fun... But it happened and it has not in a long time, it was even the same one who we use to have to worrie about.. GEORGE GRUBER!!!!! I was up front so no one missed the big left hand turn to the old mining town when it happend.. He grabed way to much front brake and rode on the front wheel until gravity took over and he was down.... Now before the start of the desent we talked about the road and how it was loose and their were a lot of good place to crash and I was looking over my shoulder making sure all my chickens were behind me and boom//... At first he jumped in to my arms like a scared dog and was really shook up. I did what I could to help calm him down. He had a huge bruse on his upper leg a bump on this eye where his glasses hit and some other big scrapes.. We were in the middle of no where so I sent chris and eric off to the bottem of the hill to see if their cell phones worked to call for help... The next thing was to get him out of the woods. I lowered the seat on my bike and lifted him on while Meghan walked down with two bikes.. He was doing ok more scared and sore than anything. After a while a Jeep was comming up the road and stoped so we put george in the front seat and meghan and I rode down on bikes.. The guy that was riding in the jeep in the shot gun spot jumped out to help get the third bike down the hill.. He got to ride mine.. I think that he might be buying a 29er single soon.... So george is fine a sore head and a bruse on his leg that is every color that a bruse can turn,,. Nothing is broke other than his shifters.. The other three Kids did a great job and helped a lot on keeping a bad crash under control.. Thanks guys... Not all texans are bad just the ones that are assholessssssss..

Well things did not go bad just not the way that I wanted it to go.. I finished 4th and had some really good lines. I just for some reason after a small run section hurled. Didn't stop or get off the bike just look left and spew.. I don't think that this slowed me down that much but it ment that my body was not working the way it should be,,.. So my fourth place was good to be that close to the ones that I was chasing.. Two more left a big hill race and one at the ski area... I just need to get my head straight and go faster...
