Ahhhhh Crap

Here is what happend to me this weekend in brek... That is me in the back trying to get my chain back on. This pic is from last season I was in a tight race with the guy in the front of the pic for the bar/bat overall.. I am not going for any overall this year just want to stay fit and have some good results.... Mabye this weekend in boulder? We'll see.... Until then snow riding and bike trainers....

AM ICE

Not the 18" they said only 1" so I think that they were off a little. The roads were scraped down to ice which made the ride in to work a balancing act.. 5:30 in the morning with loud moudhoney dark glare comming up from the ice now is this just traning for wisco? The best part of the ride in other than not crashing was the ballfeild lights were still on which were brighter than my headlight.... I want to go ride in the desert...... Fruita would be fun one more time....

Better

Things went better today and I think that I likes the course better. A good amount of folks at the line again and me being the only one on a single. Go we took off to the single track and I was where I wanted to be, big run up and some more dirt then a big down. As we rolled thorugh the frist lap I grab the lead for a bit but it was not where I wanted to be. I like to sit in and move when I can so as two guys came around I did that. I sat in 3 for most of the race going back and forth with a VC rider. It wasn't till the middle of the 6th lap someone made a move on me and I jsut watched. Still sore from my crash and slow from the PBR(drank heavy not thinking I would race on sun), I held on for 5th.. Could have been better but it is what it is. The Hood did well again with both Coach and Cross Crazy with wins. More to come? money is the problem need to find work in wisco.

Off the ground

Ok so I have not been racing on the weekends and my fitness is not the best but I though I would give I a shot.. At the line there was at least 30 or so riders and all new faces except for cheeks... I wanted to get off the front and let thing sort them selfs out... So go was the word and I took the whole shot,,. I had it until after the bridge where in the moon dust corner and I thought this would be a good place to lay the bike down... So after crashing and picking my self up the ground I sat in 9th or 10th not where I wanted to be.. So on the peadles I fought back through the hacks and got in to 4th sitting on 3rd. With one lap to go all hell broke loose on my chain and I packed it in. Once the cain comes off it doesn't go back on.... Tim had another win and so did cross crazy.... I could see doing some more races after the pain in my side goes away......

Gears???

I think that I have things sorted out with the bike 44x20 more spin.. The biggest problem for me is the running.. Not what I am good at but the riding part I can turn the pedals.. An hour on the cross bike and another hour on the road bike little over 30 miles in all.. We'll see what the day has in store for me.. At least I am not all crazy about the with strip of death... New tape is sometimes all you need....

Cold and windy that was this afternoon... I think that i need 2 more teeth for my cross racing less push and more spin.. Got 45 mins on the bike today with a lap on last years cross tack... I am glad that they moved it back up to the nordic center it is cool there going over the bridge and trough the tunnel.. Things might change a little with the that dumb gondola going in but we'll see.. I need to make a few changes to the bike and a little work on friday and I should be ready to go.. It has been a month since I raced last but I have been tring to stay on the bike as much as i can...

Doughnuts+Belly=

The road bike was not ready yesterday so I went out on the 9ER for some high country fun.. The Tour OF Breck Loop was nice and dry. I do have to say that I am shocked to see that they (and i don't know who they are) cleaned and removed all the rocks from Gold Hill trail... This use to be one of the hardest up/downs around but know it is a smooth super highway of a trail.. It was a good ride 26 miles in all and I was able to stay dry the whole time..... Now I thought that I had a good weekend of single riding but Tim G he is the man,,,.. Getting ready for the moab circus he we out and loged 105miles on his single fixed... The triangle a loop that goes from summit to vail to leadvill and back to summit.. That is huge... Sophia had her Middle School champ race today and it went great.. It was a nice day in Beaver Creek and her school had a good showing... She got fist place for 6th grade girls and her school won the overall.... Cross next weekend? we'll see I am ready for something....

Red and Green

Ski area's are fun for riding a bike.. Got out and did a lap on the breck race track which is some of the best single track the hill has.. Stuff was dry and it was warmer than I thought.. Got home and still wanted more so I jumped on the cross bike and went down to frisco.. I went looking for the frisco cross course but could not find anything marked.. So back to breck throught the highlands and on the upper flume to finninsh/.. The gearing on the cross bike is great for what I did enough to push up the bigger hill and still fast on the desents.. What does today hold?? Don't know would like to get out on the road bike and try the new wheels but we'll see what the weather has in store..

Whats to come

I don't know.. What ever happens to me I hope that it can be as cool as things here.. Yea life can be tough living in a resort town things cost more and people come and go,but their is a good network of great people who help each other out.. I got my new road wheels tonight so I can get my bikes in order. I want to make some changes to the cross and get it ready for what ever happens in cross. Make a quick start in 4's and get my up grade to 3's. I could start in 3's but I want to get one under my belt before I start getting my ass kicked.. Tomrrow would be a good mountian bike day if the weather holds but it could be a road day we'll see.. I heard from Tim G who raced with me on a wily 29er this summer he is getting ready for the 24 moab race and his frame is broken.... This sucks because wily closed it's doors and getting the frame fixed is hard and replaced is out of the question.. Watch out for tim at the 24 race because what ever bike he is going to be on will be fast..... Do ya think the bkb will let me in???????

John Denver full of shit?

Sunshine on my shoulder does make me happy.. I tried on friday to ride the fat tires up hill and things got a little mushy. So I swiched bikes and went out on the road. This was a good idea just rember to switch your tubes brom mtb to road. Not a lot of good a 29er tube will do ya when you get a flat on the road bike.. A quick frisco and back on sat just enough to get it done..Sat night the talk arounf the house was anna wants to get the fu*# out and back to Wisco because life there is better than here.. I am on the fence, I like this state and could relocate some where here.. All that aside I got some good dirt miles in today yes i would have loved to go and race cross this weekend but the mountain bike was so nice. I get out there soon coach is hooking me up with some wheels for the road bike and then I can put the wheels on the road bike on the cross.. And thennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Black sheets of rain

More frozen rain this time of year than I have ever seen.. I saw lines down the front of the bowl and in the ballroom and other places that this eairly is crazy. I got out on friday between snow and rode for fifty min and laied low on sat due to more Dales Pale Ale than I should have had . The sun came out on sunday and I got out with coach and a few other folks and put in 40 good miles before we ran in to piles of snow.. My Cross Cazy neighbor had a good weekend of racing with a win and a two.. i am going to try to line up soon just need to get more money....... If you have not done it yet check out Steve Garro's Blog, it has almost been a year since he had his run in with a Truck.. It is great that he is still with us and getting better every day.. Want a custom bike he is the man to talk to /////..././././

Can't win so why try???

Ships creaking taking on bullshit so I scream jump ship jump ship.............. Their are days that I just don't want to do it any more... I just want to go to a warm place and be in the sun... Is it because there is 4 inches of snow ont he ground and itis only sept 21? I dont't know at least I have Clean socks.....

Two Nickes One Dime

Warm today but does not sound like it will last long.. Cold tomrrow with sonw on the way. This should make the racing this weekend intersting.. Went up the hill and back down on one of the last days of indian summer I love riding Mountain Bikes.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Hand ball anyone on a clay court now that is fun... Fast Dirt quick corners and long climbs it don't get much better.. Rest now and get ready for the Mudfest (Fall Classic).. I lie her naked you lie here naked why are we differnt???

Ice Box

Not a warm one I think that it was warmer in Green Bay but that still did not help.. Their is 2000 vertical feet between my house and the top of little french. It was a nice spin up to that point even with the temps today hovering around 35.. Mondays is comming and that means that I need to work and clean up after the drunks on main street,,,...,,, It is my street to take care of... Skiped the banana belt today I chose to just ride this weekend and get ready for the Fall Clasic. Sounds like a good amount of people are going to show up for our little stage race.. Next weekend is the start of cross I think so the skiny tire freaks will have something to do.. I am not talking shit about cross just not getting super crazy for it. I don't need to be out getting on and off the bike and doing quick starts, I am on a single it is all of that all the time..My goal for cross is to not finnish last and to bunny hop the barriers .. we'll see..;,;,,.,;,'

Drunkfest 2006

This is the time of year that the Town of Breckenridge shuts down main street and has notsoberfest. Don't get me wrong I like beer as much as the next guy but not being part of the beautiful people of breck I don't make it to the party.. Last year their was across race on sat and one on sunday. But the date has been changed and the race here in breck has a venue which will not be as good as the old one. Cross is not on my mind as much as it was last year I'll show up for a few but not going to chase any points this year. I want to keep riding on the Mtb untill I can't anymore. Today the temp was only 38 but with the right clothes it was great no one on the trails and with the wind last night the leaves have started to hit the ground.. It is now a Blur of color up and down any way you look..... I want to go to the desert and ride in the dirt there.. Getting out of town would be good but untill then layers and more riding.. Only 6 days away from the fall classic...!!!!!!!!!!!

Riding through Holes

Today was one of those days in the high country that it poured over there but not over here.. It day started with black skys and I thought nothing would happen after I got done eating breakfast at DD.. The sun broke out and I got to ride with C-Ball.. We went out to the colorado trail and took it kind of easy because his shoulder is still hurtting from his crash.. We managed to ride from one sun hole to the next sun hole and never got wet... We wnt up the North fork up to the junction of westridge and flipped there because it was wet in Keystone. The we rode the trailer park section to the bike path because it was not wet there.. All in all it was a good day.. Now if the rest of the weekend can hold up to the weather today.. If you don't have anything going next weekend come and ride the Fall Classic.........................................................................

Getting Tanked

I had no plan on riding a bike other than to work, but soon after I cracked a PBR my wife asked me if I was going riding? So I pounded the suds and got dressed and off I went at 6:30. Today was the first blue bird day in a while and I was soooo nice to be out even if it was late. I did the tank loop up from carter park and over to bakers tank.. I was able to get back to the house in 1hour and 2 min.. which to me is good it is only 12 miles but it goes straight up then down. Came in the door and got to have a warm meal and another pbr! Now if I could stop the noise from my bottem bracket..... If you have never heard Smash your herd on the Punk Rock you need to get your hands on it. Sebadoh when they first got togother could make some noise...

Mondays?? Another one down only 3 days from the weekend... I have got one chain ring bolt that keep on comming loose which makes shit creak,,,,... Only an hour tonight and it was in the rain. Went out to the nordic center and did lap on the short corse for the fall classic. This is a sweet track for a single speed race 6 times around a 1.8 track with a small wall you go up 6 times.. It was good esp.. in the rain I think laps will be around 6 to 7 mins. Going to take a rest day tomrrow might go and ride with boy and work on his wheelies....

When is it time to call it quits

It is the regular season unless you are the pack. At this point I think that the summit tigers could beat them. I got out and worked out the first part of the fall classic. From my house the hill goes up for a little while. At an easy pace it took an hour to get to the top. Because it was raining I came home and it only took 13 to get down the hill..... One hell of a hill. I can't wait to get that race on it is one good race...

Wheelies on a trike

Ahhh Fall that time of year when the trees change and their is a nip in the air and like today snow on the peaks.. I got to ride with Daver and his buddy eric and the legand C-ball. It has be forever and ever that I have ridden with him. We rode on the ski hill which is getting ready for people from all over to come and stand in line... Went to the top and came down the game trail.. This is a good ride this time of year because the chair lifts are shut down and no one is around. Today was nice because I got to ride with people instead of being solo. This also ment that I could slow down and not hammer my self.. Slow is good it is just hard for me to take it easy...... Sophia did well in her xc race she said it was cold but not some thing that she could not do. Her brother and I did laps round the hood,. He is doing awsome on the trike. He is trying to pop a wheelie and trying really hard.. Hopefully more mtb tomrrow in the crisp fall air, before having to go back to work...

Waiting for the warm

Snow on the peaks this morning. A reminder that winter can be here at any time.. I don't know if the trails will be as nice as they were yesterday.. I would love to ride the mountian bike again but the road bike might have to do! On the fence with the banana belt next weekend. It is not the hardest race but can also not be all that fun. It is also 5 day out from the fall classic so it would be a good warm up to help with the slow that is stuck in my legs...

riding the storm out

Well it took most of the day but I finally made it outside and rode a bike. It has not been often here in summit but that it rains all day but today was one of them. It was more socked in than anything. The trails were dry and really nice for riding on. got out on a baldy loop and top it off with peak 9 and 8. It was a kick ass day on the bike it just took a while for it to happen.. Could been snow on the ground in the morning. Sophia has a xc running meet in leadvill in the morning it is going to be cold..I have to work on getting the slow out of my legs !!!!!!!!!!

Flat Tires and wrong turns

Well the Mountian states cup is over the last one being at keystone.. It was a good season in the msc 6 races out of 10 with 2 second places I skiped all of the short tracks and the one hill climb. I finished in fourth which is one place better than last year. I think that if I did all the races I could fininsh higher just not sure about spending 40 buck to race 2 other guys for points!! Had a flat on sunday first one of the whole summer was sitting on the wheel of 3rd place as we hit the dirt road. This is what I wanted sit on him until he cracked and then pass and go fast. The air in my front tire had a another idea. Sophia got 2 out of 2 but she only fininshed 3 min out of 1.. She did great now if I could only get her to try a little harder and she would be killing people.. I know she is only 11 but she has so much more that she can do if she only tried a little harder. James the boy finally started to pedal his trike. He has turned in to a biking fool which is great because he has had this Trek trike for 3 months, I had no iead that it would weigh 30 pounds... Next up the fall classic...... hope the gas is still in the legs...... Get out and ride in the woods because snow is on the way!!!!!!!!!!!

29er's are bigger

Short and good a trip down to frisco and back. Not pushing it hard and still was able to get under an hour for the 20 miles.. It was nice to be on the road bike it has been a while. Going to race at keystone this weekend just going out to have some fun and rock the 29er on some fast single track..... I am ready to do some more fun mtb rides with the fall leaves changing,,,,....

sleep is gooder

I made it out for a 1 hour grind last night. It was nice to sprint up single track as the sun went down. Felt like I had unfinnished ridding to get after having gotten rained out this weekend. Made it up to mt. pride then over to the Tank again one of the best sections of 1 track around.. Ran in K-tron in the parking lot with his friend katy and we went down the aspen tunnel and the sun set.. Got home had a PBR and a pork chop and my head hit the pillow.. I love to sleep...

Spoiled

We have it good here in the land of summit county.. Out my front door is a maze of single track that is some of the best around here in the west. I have been other places and have ridden other single track but here, the quality is the best.. Flagstaff had some epic stuff but the forest would close due to fire danger.. The front range is crowed and the western slope is hot..... These are some of the reasons that I don't leave home to often to ride mtb bikes unless bike racing.. I know that the Butte is supposed to be the best . And I am not here to bash another town because the riding isn't good but it just seems like you have to spend so much time riding to the single track. And unless you have a town bike you are looked down on. I think that next time I go I will hook up with someone who can show me whats up.. But till that happens I ride the 1 track here and take my road bike on trips because I am spoiled..!!

weir bitch

Well I ened that week long of nothing with something.... It felt good to get out nobody was able to come and ride so I went solo.. The Colorado trail betwen Keystone and Breck is some of the best stuff around,.. I look foward to riding the 285 to highway 9 colorado trail ride.. That is nice to do in the fall/. Off to the Butte///

I am not the old one today

End of another weekend.,.which meas only one thing and that is I have to go to work and wait 4 more days to have another weekend.. Got out a few times on the mountian bike and it was nice.. Felt good to ride with out the weight of racing on my head.. I had fun just going out and climbing up hills and flying down desents... The family adn I are going to Crested Butte this comming weekend to hang out. The kids have never been there so they should have a good time.. I plan on doing the 401 trail, that is the one that everyone talks about... Until then some more rest and a little bike bike riding,, I am still tired... Happy Birthday to Anna,,,,,, Could not have done it with out you this summer,,,...!!!!!!!

3's

Well for the past three years I have goten third place at the breck brawl... Last year it was just enough to get me in to third for the overall and 3 two years ago third place cost me to loose the 1st overall by 4 points... Not last night I knew what I had to do going in to the night and at the start of the race thought I was not going to pull it off. Travis and chris and ryan were fast on the first lap and it took the whole firdt climb to catch back up.. Thank you 29er!!!! At the start of lap two I moved around chris and stayed there. At this point I need rayn to finish 1st adn travis 2nd.. It worked.. Chris did give me a scare at the line he started to charge on the up hill finnish and I had to sprint to the line... I don't know if he would have passed me at the line but if he would have that would have mad the differnce of 1st or 2nd on the year.... Thanks to all you out ther that have helped me have a great race season,,,....,.,.,.,

The further I go the futher back I get

Got an a mail this morning that the Wily Cylces is no more.. IT went on to say that the cost of running a bike co was to much and brad had to the the co go. I have to say that it was a great try and a good run.. The boulder proformance network part of the team is still intack and that is where Brad is going to put most of his time. Sad because the bikes ride so sweet and I have to say my 29er is the best bike I have ever ridden..... Just got back from a ride and can't tell how I fell the bike is running good I just can't tell if my body is where it needs to be my head is slowing me down.... 29er's get it done !!!!!!!!!!

Trees and downhills

One down and one to go... I have been told by my wife that I should not talk to the summit daily news any more beacuse I say to my dumb stuff.. I can't help it some times after races I am not thinking as clear as I would like.. But things went well I had to push my self hard and make some risky moves.. Hit one tree and scared my self twice.. Travis only had a few seconds on my and was only 45seconds behind the winner.. Next week is the last of the SMC races and it is on breckenridge mnt.. Just got to keep travis in my sights and ride a good race... Group ride with the kids torrow and that will be fun as long as no one gets hurt,,,.... Keep the rubber down and look out of assholes!!!!

Here comes the hills

Good weekend the big wheels are rolling over everyting and I love it.. Happy to get out of the woods with the kids and happy that George was not broken. I like working with the kids I gives me a good felling when they are killing it in the woods and grining ear to ear.. Put a new link on or hope that it made it there, but it is a link to Steve Garro's blog, check in see his stuff and hear how thing are going in Flagstaff. It would be nice to get there this fall but it might not be till spring... Work tomrrow and some free food and Eric's, Jeff's way of saying thanks for helping with the Firecracker. Not all people from Texas are bad?

I had some fun in the bike path this morning doing stop sign intervals. I always forget how much I love my road bike and how fast the two of us can go.... Today being friday it was a Little League group ride day,,.. We have been going to the afternoon sessions because it is better for sophia faster and longer rides. I got to lead the fast kids on the race course for wed.. We were having a blast flying up the single and fire roads, talking about when to pass or hammer or sit in.. A lot of fun... But it happened and it has not in a long time, it was even the same one who we use to have to worrie about.. GEORGE GRUBER!!!!! I was up front so no one missed the big left hand turn to the old mining town when it happend.. He grabed way to much front brake and rode on the front wheel until gravity took over and he was down.... Now before the start of the desent we talked about the road and how it was loose and their were a lot of good place to crash and I was looking over my shoulder making sure all my chickens were behind me and boom//... At first he jumped in to my arms like a scared dog and was really shook up. I did what I could to help calm him down. He had a huge bruse on his upper leg a bump on this eye where his glasses hit and some other big scrapes.. We were in the middle of no where so I sent chris and eric off to the bottem of the hill to see if their cell phones worked to call for help... The next thing was to get him out of the woods. I lowered the seat on my bike and lifted him on while Meghan walked down with two bikes.. He was doing ok more scared and sore than anything. After a while a Jeep was comming up the road and stoped so we put george in the front seat and meghan and I rode down on bikes.. The guy that was riding in the jeep in the shot gun spot jumped out to help get the third bike down the hill.. He got to ride mine.. I think that he might be buying a 29er single soon.... So george is fine a sore head and a bruse on his leg that is every color that a bruse can turn,,. Nothing is broke other than his shifters.. The other three Kids did a great job and helped a lot on keeping a bad crash under control.. Thanks guys... Not all texans are bad just the ones that are assholessssssss..

Ralph

Well things did not go bad just not the way that I wanted it to go.. I finished 4th and had some really good lines. I just for some reason after a small run section hurled. Didn't stop or get off the bike just look left and spew.. I don't think that this slowed me down that much but it ment that my body was not working the way it should be,,.. So my fourth place was good to be that close to the ones that I was chasing.. Two more left a big hill race and one at the ski area... I just need to get my head straight and go faster...

Head over heals

Took the kid to ride her race corse today.. It is a fun little track for her a lot of big ring.. It well be nice to get to watch her go and not have to worry about getting ready to race my self... I got out and rode some dirt and pavement and ended up in frico to ride the peaks trail.. I was having good time and thought I was riding well when I stood up to attack a hill I put my wheel in to a stump???? and ened up flipping over the bars.. I think that I landed on my feet it all happend soo fast.. Weekend is over and time to start a new work week.. At least their is bike racing to look foward to...

Isn't nice

Got out on the road bike yeserday morning and man it is a nice change. It was really nice to be the only one out on the bike path.. Cool damp and empty a nice way to start my day... I did bump in to one guy on some fancy plastic trek bike with all the bells and wistles.. I hope that some day some one ends up with that bike and can ride it so such a nice bike does not go to waste... After running to the G store me and the 11 year old geared up for a MTB ride... The sun was warm now and their was a good window of no rain so we were out.. Another steller day for sophia we climb from the park up moonstone up barney and up baldy finaly getting to the top of pinball.. This is huge a great climb and soon their after a great down.. After passing through mnt. pride we hit bakers tank and she crushed it then hammered down aspen tunnel.. From tree line to town all on single track what a bad ass little kid,,,,,...... I wish i had that going on when I was her age....... I tested her pee afret the ride and her sample came back clean.. No dope

Why do things happen????

Some times I don't know if I should poke my eyes out with a hot stick or just beat my self with a hammer.. Never been much in cutting my self.. Stress sucks!!! Things will get better, just better be soon... The race got called off tonight cuz of rain and lighting which is a good thing.. I got to eat Thai food and ride my bike on the road which is nice I like it, I just like the mountian bike so much more.. My daughter Sophia got to hang out with Georgia Gould tonight and talk about riding bikes .. That is not some thing that happens every day hanging out with the National Champ.. It will give her something to brag about at SJC tomrrow... Thnaks for the beers and putting up with me again thing will get better.... Now sleep....

What did you do today

What a day!!,,, a day after floyd kick some ass and did something that Lance never did. Got to go and have breakfast with sophia c ball and mister morgan. We talked about life and bikes and bike racing... Then the fun began we did the afternoon little league ride and it was huge. Sophia had her new skid lid because she broke her old one on sat the sky did not rain and life was good.. About 15 of us rode from Breckenridge to Frisco, 12 of those being kids. After getting to frico we rode the peaks trail back to breckenridge.. My child being the only one who had not ridden the trail.. She Killed it she was not up front but she did the whole ride.. By the time it wa all over it was 24 miles and a lot of holy shit look at what I did. This was by far the best little league ride that I have ever done.. To ride with kids who love the bike as much as I so is as good as it gets.. We ened the ride with Pizza at Eric's thanks to him and all he does... Big stage tomrrow who is going to be ??????????????????Go FLOYD

Here is my Baby

No offence to my kids but this is my baby... It took a lot of trys to get this posted because I have a slow connection but here it is.. I have been having so much fun on this bike and can't wait to get out on it again.. We are in a pattern of afternoon rain so I have been getting shut out.. But the Agent Orange shall ride again....Poor Floyd but that is bike racing!!!!!

Lazy aftrernoon

Spent a good amount of time with the boy while the grils went out for a movie.. I got to try out the Wily with the trailer on it and like with every thing the bike rode nice.. We bumped in to the winner of the 100 mile bike race and chatted for a bit before going to the park...IT WAS HOT!!! After eatting some ice cream cake we just ran around and it was nice.. I did get out for a ride when the girls got home and I took my self up tho the top of the power lines.. I love my new bike not only did climb well but going down is a dream.. I flew up the climb to the top and screamed down the single track it was a nice way to end a long weekend.. No racing for almost a week that will be nice to rest eat and ride..

I teied I had every thing where I wanted it but I went for the safe play not knowing the whole corse and lost the #1 guy for part of the 2nd lap. I could see him now and again and would give it a push but the hills and the heat were too much. # 2 worked well for what ever reason thier weren't very many singles today and I don't blame them because the race was steep. My daughter finished her 8 mile race and that is great! It was a lot some of the big people let alone a girl trying to have 11th birthday..What a bad ass.. The rest of the SJC did well also all deadacating their race to the fallen hero C-Ball.. Well the PBR is calling so back to filling up on beer ,,,,, Oh yea that bike of mine the 29er was the shit today the fork worked so well and the tires worked like extra squish........

Gearing up to get down

The van is loaded and now it is time to roll... Had a good slow ride to frisco and back today it wad nice to be in the rode bike again. I still fell like I am trying to recover from being up to late on wednesday night.. Good sleep and go fast, wish the kid a happy birthday and come home.... Go Floyd!!!!!!!

Things go Boom

Last night was the first big test for the Wily, and it did great... I have had bad luck at Copper over the last 4 years and I was happy to finish where I did. 20 sec off of the big boss and 1 min out of 2nd. The first climb got me and I pulled it togother for the down and climbed well on the second lap the 29er wheels were rolling fast up the hill/.. Sophia grabbed another 2nd place and she was stoked on her night.. We are packing up tomrrow and going to Snowmass for the state champ race. I won it last year and would love to repeat that feet.. The bummer news is that Cball had a bad crash today while riding with the kids at the summit jr. cycling camp. I guess he was jumping when he over shot a landing and slamed hard,. He broke is coller bone and his pelvice.. We'll check back in with him when we get back for the race...... Now rest food and more rest....

Case of Point

Had a good ride with the kids on friday not as good as the morning ride but great to get the kids up that hill at Copper.. Not my fav place for a race and I hop that this is the last year that we do it there.. Got a little bloody at the end of the ride went for a pass on my 11 year old and put it down. First week of a new bike you have to crash once.. Went to the D for a friends wedding and it wet wet wet. I ened up hanging out with james in the hotel drinking the high life...... Still wet outside but I still went out for a fourty minn ride got dirty and wet...... Nice dinner tonight with a case of point beer stright from wisco .....Yea... Race on wednesday and big one in snowmass on saturday.....

Fun Time

Well it is here.... I got my new ride before the race on sunday.. It was all I could do to get through that day the thought of setting up a new bike. I had an ok race 10th out of 20 something. Could not keep up with the bloomer as he said he set a pace that showed the contenders from the pretenders....Back home I left work on monday to get the bike put togother. I got to watch the most amazing flash flood with hail it was so bad that the streets were icerinks.... Tuesday was the firecracker and I got to ride a new bike, the sky was blue and the beer was getting cold... I thought the race went well the bike went where I wanted it to and it climbed so well.. I got down to the finish and sent off my teammate who took off fast to make up the time that i had let slip away(because I was on a single and everyone else had gears).! He ended up dubble flatting and not finishing oh well I got to ride down main street with all of town checking out my new ride.. That is all I needed!!!!! Big things comming up need to be ready !!!!

It is going to be busy

Rode with the sun again today, It is such a great time of day to be out nobody to deal with and the temps are so perfect. Did a little work on the firecracker worked some of the hills that will be a push in the race.. After riding had breakfast with baccon and eggs. Then went off to ride a group ride with the kids.. It was a good time riding with them on the colorado trail, they all rode well and their was no blood.. Bike is done going to pick it up on sunday at the race which happens to be the single speed state champ race!! It is going to be one hell of a race with all of the big guns there.. I think that Tim is going to take it but I know that charile is going to give him a run for the money... I just want a good finish to keep the points up.. My plan is to get my bike built and start riding it fast...

Gears make noise when they shift

Went well in Cested Butte this weekend a whole lot better than last year.. Last year I broke a chain on the second lap and had to drop out. Saturday I chased Charlie as hard as I could and came in a few mins behind him. Felt good the legs were strong and the lungs were great my arms started to get tired from all the climbing but things went well. First on wednesday and a second on saturday that to me is a good week. I have been told that my Wily will be up earily this week this way I can get it built and give it a shot at the single speed state champ race on sun.. I hope that their is not much to have to get use to with the bigger wheels. A week from tue is the 4th and that day will have a little bike race we call the firecracker 50.

Got one... It has been a while since I won a race got two in cross and a cupple in the MTB last year but this one was by far the best. I won here two years ago with a smaller feild and last night the group was bigger with a lot of fast guys.. It was a fast race right from the start. I had 3 teammates from a racer's edge with me racing which was nice, Stillwater took the pack out to the dirt road and after I went around him the big boss was on my wheel me letting me know what was going on behind me... All in all it was what I needed to get the bad thoughts out of my head. My daughter got first also so we had a good night in the family.. Next test Crested Butte on saturday 30 miles of up and down... Heard from Wily tonight and Brad said that my frame is going to be done mid week.. I might be able to get it built and ride it a few times before the race next sat and the firecracker on the fourth.... I don't know if that is the right call the voodoo is being so good to me but a new bike between my legs would rock....... Big things on my radar and two point beers in my gut........ Live Pixies is the shit!!!!!!!!

One Gear and Fathers Day

Well got to eat a nice breakfast and drink some strong coffee. Then get out and have a good single speed ride. It has been nice not having to race this week and getting to ride unreal single track. Went out with Dirt Rag Dan over to the colorado trail which is by far one of the greatest rides around... We did the soada creek or westridge loop what ever the name it was perfrect. This has got to be the best single track in the county if not the state.. Long climbs with crazy downs that for a single are soooooooo nice. Coach hooked up a soul craft tensior that is working well not a single droped chain, we'll see what happens on race day. Travis is comming over to ride the coarse tomrrow we'll show him around. Then after wednesdays race off to the butte for one on saturday....FunFunFun... Got some new live pixies today !!!!!!!11

Up with the sun

Woke up this morning and hit the single track. It has been a long time since I have hit the trails at 6:00 and it was a good time. Went up from carter up through bakers tank. It is such a great single speep climb esp the lower section of the tank loop. Finished it off with the spiral staircase and some other single track back to carter. I was home before 8.... I got to lead another kids group ride after all of that. We took the kids on the wednesday race corse and they did great. Such a hard climb for the little ones. Cold today kind of nice change from all of the heat.....

up hill anger

Almost got run over twice today while climbing up some of my fav single track... I got my tunes on and i am spinng out my legs from yesterday and here comes a guy who skids into a endo and almost hits me, then about 3 mins later must have been his buddy does the same thing. Not the best idea to piss of a already angry man esp with the angry punk rock in my ears. Any how got to ride all the way up to the top of pin ball and drop all the way down bakers tank and aspen tunnel. Felt good to climb after getting beat to shit by wind yesterday,.. I felt good at the start was moving and was up in foutrh place for the first lap, did not realize that through the tough wind section that I had a small group on my wheel using me like a tissue. As we came out of the river bottom I once again dropped a chain and they were all gone. I was able to catch the small break in front of me on the second lap I just once again was all alone head to wind. When I finaly caught them I was poped and it took a while to recover. I dangled behind them for the rest of the race getting close but never closing the gap. Charlie got the win with colin onegear.com in second. Only had one guy finish in front of me who raced at angle fire and lost to ups for the first time this year.. For what it is worth I learned a lot and I am useing it as a training race 31 mile in the sun the flatest and windest race i'll do all year.

Naps

Wedsnesday went well a good looking group of guys at the start new faces and old.. Just under a mile of dirt road for the start with the expert women about 1 min ahead. Coach my self and UPS were moving at the front when we hit the single track along with 30 women. This is when the fun began it was pass or die to keep moving. UPS led out for a bit but coach had other ideas. He started passing left and right just flying UPS and I did what ever we could to hold on. I could tell this was going to be his night those 29er wheels were on fire. When It was all said and done Coach was across the line in 57min flat then my self and UPS.. A good night, Sophia managed another 2nd place for the family did good. Tim and Ronnie both had good nights also, Tim took 2nd behind mister KHS and ronnie got the win. It has been a good start to the SMC for the Wily Cycles team... Now just bring on the bike...... Big one tomrrow for mountian states cup more on that to come.......... Oh yea instead of riding for a hour and a half I took a nap damm that felt good.....

nice and melow

Just what I need tonight a melow ride to frisco and back. It is so hard for me to ride slow but that is what I need to do.. Leaving the house at 7;00 at night is nice with these long days. Only a few more week and the days get shorter.. The next great thing on my radar is a weekend in crusty butt.. No kids flowers and bikes can't get any better than that.. Next world cup on wed night......

The first one is in the books and things went well. Their were a dozen or so on the line and it was hot. Charile was like a bullet out of the start and I jumped on. Things were going well until I droped a chain at the end of the first lap with a quick fix I was back in it trying to hold on to coach's wheel. Did I mention that it was hot!!!!!Half way through the 2nd lap we had a joiner a guy on a IF named Travis and he was moving he got around coach and I and before I new it the race was over. Fourth was the call for the day which to me was a good race.. My teammate who was riding his single Wily Cycle won the Pro class. All in all it was a good day the Kid (my kid) got 2nd in her class. Another one on Wed.. and a hot one on sat...

Young Ones

The last two days I have spent my riding time with the kids of the mountain bike little league.. I have had some time to my self but the riding with the young ones is really refreshing. They are so into it they love having some one older to ride with and they are just a bunch of kids riding bikes like we did as kids just things are just a little more high tec.... I hope that I am not pushing my daughter to hard I just see a lot of greatness in her. She can really move when she wants to.... Tonight was the first in many nights of My Tahi. They reopened after a 6 week vacation.. They have some if not the best food in town and it is always a pre race fav... Yes tomrrow is the first summit world cup and I'll have a belly full of thai food...... Remember the show the young ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time on my side

What a nice day in the land of wind and snow. Did some good work between here and frisco. Now it is time to take it easy and ride with the kids. Two group rides with the little ones this week. It is always fun to rid with the little ones they are just so happy to ride.. That is the way it should be..Where is my mind?

Pullstar not just part of history

I need to stop being so angry... It just has not been to easy here in the land of crazy people(my house). I took it out on the road bike yesterday and on the single today. I feel strong and that i am where I should be but we'll see... Not making it to work tomrrow cuz the boy is sick. Need to rest and eat well this week and all things will come toghther it is still earily..The boys trike should be in this week watch him get his bike before I do.. Late 90's Voodoo with a stiff fork and a pullstar rear hub with rasta colored nipples now that is style.......

Rocks fill the gaps

Went out with C-ball and J-Covey yesterday, told anna that we were just going down to frisco and came back 3 hours later. I was a good day 60 miles with wind in every which way.. Jeff is still as fast as ever.. The word on the streets of Boulder is that the Wily will be done this week it would be nice to have for the first summit mountian world cup this weekend.. Race on sunday race on wed.. and two ,more sat and sun.. we'll see which ones that I make it two.... Have fun in the sun on this government holiday.....

rest is good

Got results today and it is what I though 6th.... Not bad for knocking my self in the head with my handlebars.. I would love to see a picture of me comming in for lap 2. Lip all huge and puffy and blood streaming out of the cut. It did not help trying to was it out with the bottle of sports drink the feed zone guy handed me. Now if i can just get my new bike I think that i will be ready to go.

Can You Feel That Hum

One in the books.... Had a good time in the Land Of Entrapment, could have gone faster but that should come later. Gave Coach's 29 a test ride on fri to get a idea of the trail and what I gathered was it went up.This would have been a great race to be on the 29er you just had to have the right gear set up. The two guys off the front were on matching IF'S They were fast and then a cupple of rigid 29er and local..... I went with my voodoo because the gear was more set up for the hills.. All in all it was a good race and gave me a few things to work on... And I got to see my bike well not my bike but my teammate tim's..

big wheels go faster

Heading down to the land of entrapment and going to bike racing a try.. Coach has given me his new 9er to race on see as mine still is not done. I sound like the big guns are comming out tomrrow the bloomer and coaches buddy dusty they'll be the tough ones. My plan is to spin my wheels and go as fast as my body will let me go.... To much coffee is making me want to go now but must wait a bit till bear is off work... oh well........Thanks to coach he is a big help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

push and shove till it's just enough

Got out and did some hills on the voodoo tonight,. It was just enough got to see how the bike would do on steep hills and how my legs felt.. The bike did well I am going to get a mevlin from coach to keep the chain tight and I am going to rest my legs and let them get ready for a bunch of work. Yes this is the first race of the summer but in my mind it is still training. Now if I can just get through a week of work and make three times the money........

in the dark of

I am so dam mad!!!!!!!!I can't get the voices out of my head. I get pissed and think that I am slow, fat, and out of shape.... I try to think of the ones who have real problems liek jessey or my brother, they have real probles. I am just broke and can't stop the voices, mabye Angle Fire will be good for me getting my ass kicked will at least put me where I belong. A few more days on the bike and then some rest need to get the voodoo ready just to in case something does not work with coaches bike,, at least I got that going for me,,,,.

Good work with good distance and wind.... They man has the dam road shut down so you can't go that way for another week.. No racing this weekend saving some money so I have more for next weekend.. Coach says that I can ride his new Gary Fisher and I might take him up on that we'll see how the week plays out......

Skiny Tires + Dirt = FUN

Got out tonight after feeding the fam dinner, the wind started to die and other than a little cold it was nice. Rode the single cross north and ran into some friends then flip and hit the hills of the highlands. After working on the hills I hit the dirt that was around and doing that on the cross was fun. A little over an hour and 20 miles it was nice eve..Then home and soem really good pasta that I made..I like food.......ONE LESS CAR>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Night and Day

Well after a good day out on the road I ended up yesterday out with C-Ball on dirt. He had just got his race bike put all togother and was ready to ride. We went to BV where the sun was out and it was not snowing. Good climbing and some fun downs the voodoo was riding nice and I think that it will work out fine for the angle fire race. Well as things go we were having fun and starting to go fast on some tight single track when C-ball's front wheel came lodged in some rocks holly shit!!!! Things got bad fast and he cut his face up seeing as that was the only thing that he landed on. A big cut under his eye and blood from his nose and mouth. We walked for a bit and and when he could ride we would do so. After making it back to the county we hit up the ER and they stiched up his eye... I have to say that he got lucky because it could have been so much worse. An inch to the left or the right and their would have been no walking out.....He is one tough SOB...And his bike came out fine through the whole mess.. Today saw more of the same shity weather snow wind and sun.. I mad it out with coach and I think that we pushed a pretty good pace. I sat on his wheel as much as I could he is fast for an old man..........It was a good weekend and now time to start to think about getting reday for work......

Earth Wind and on Fire

I got after it yesterday with some good work and I can that I even had fun. 100K in about 3hours and 17 min... That makes me happy seeing that their was sperts of snow and wind and the wind never knew which way it wanted to blow.. I want to try to get out on dirt today but dont't want to have to drive. So mabye another good long road ride we'll see..The word is that tomrrow the pro guys want to go do the minturn loop which is a good 5 hours in the saddle. Need to see how everything plays out..

Clipless pedals on the kids trike??

Not really fast but not slow... I got out after dinner and found the large cear spot in the sky.. 30 miles and a good pace just a mile slower than I have had the past few rides. I want to make the strange creak noise go away it is driving me crazy. I might try to get some dirt this weekend that would be nice just means that I have to drive.. TGIF tomrrow is friday and that is badass..

Run Forest Run

Finally got out today watching the weather and woundering if it would be to cold, but I put on every thing I had and it was not to bad. My knee brace would not work over my knee warmers so I went with out and man it felt good. 24 mile of pain free riding. I still think that I will take it with me in case something pops up but I felt like Gump when his braces came off and he was so fast. Going to try to get out with coach tomrrow and get up to montazuma I just hope that the snow is gone for a while........ Could be worse I could me in Iowa..............................

A Mullet Grown Out

It work for Chippo.......... I got in some good work today, I ended up running in to coach and the young ones,savage and soller. Rolled 620 in road miles with another 80 single speed for the month things are looking good. Rest is good just hard for one like me to do. Tommrow is friday and my last 8 hour day monday starts the 10's. Once the single cross is back togother i'll start doing morning laps around breck.. Quite roads at 5ish in the morning...Bad toughts in the head of Dr. danni and her quaterback riding tandom.. That is where the punk rock comes in to paly to chace out the bad and bring in the good...

I rode a bike and went some where and then I turned around and came back. I found a hill or two and went up them. Tomrrow I'll try to do the same thing. I learned that my bike went from weld to paint today and I hope that I can see it before angle fire on may 20th if it is not ready i'll have to ride on the voodoo.. Either way I just have to go fast....

Making the freeway safe for the freeway

Both sides of the col de sawn yesterday, it felt good to be out on the flat bike path for the first time this spring. It seems as if I have been doing nothing but hill the past few weeks and the flats were nice. Time to clean the shit out of the shed and make it ready for the in and out of the bike season. Going to try to get my old BMX bike ridding so the kid can ride it to school. I wont let her ride her MTB to school because it will come home broken.. Go Floyd!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The boy will say OK to anything.. This is his new thing OK daddy OK daddy.. Went out with the Doc to day and it was a good bit of work. Lots of hill with lots of sprints. It is nice to get to ride with someone and even nicer to hammer on the front.. Sounds like coach might be pulling the plug in racing on sun. And if I can find someone to watch the boy I think that sophia and I might go to the MTB race. Rcing the 3's on sunday sounded like fun but so does a montain bike race........... White beans with carmilized onions..,.,.,.,Tasty!

What a nice morning, the sun was out the birds were sining and everybody was at church so the roads were empty. Got out and did a 60K ride and it felt good legs were a little tired from the ride on friday but I was able to keep a 18 mile avg. I wanted to ride yesterday but the winds were ripping down off the top of Pikes Peak so I drank beer instead,...... I hope that when I get home the snow has stopped and I can get back out on the roads..... Bring on the ham.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,..,.

My own private Iadho

Had a real good one today with CBall. We parked in Idaho Springs and went out the Central City Parkway.. What a road It goes up from that valley so fast.There was a 7% and an 8% grade to climb wow.. Going down to central city is something eles. It felt like being in a town in Europe tight roads and stright down. We work all the way out past rollinsvill. 100K for the day and a shit ton of climbing. Highway 119 is not flat. And climbing back out of clear creek through black hawk and Ccity is one hell of a bitch 8% at the top.............. But then on the way down............Long downs with huge speeds at one point I sae 54 miles an hour. A good long day in the saddle, would like to have gone longer but the hills started to take their toll. Good sleep and ride tomrrow in the eve down in the springs... Fried Chicken salad with bacon and cheese mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........

Another 50K today and it felt good did not try to go out to hard and just spun the wheels. It felt like spring warm over 60 here in breck. Sounds like CBall is cooking up something for friday...Keep the heat comming so this snow goes away... IN my head....Clam Dip and Other Delights

What the Fu@# Chuck

I had another good day on the bike yesterday, went out with the Doc and got in about 50K with good work. It is nice to go out with Doc cuz he'll sit on the front in the wind which lets me get out on sprints and work on speed on hill climbs.. If all goes well I'll get out again tomrrow. I heard from an old friend he was one of my best line cooks of all time in flagstaff. He would get drunk on french liquor and ride his fixed single and normaly get beat up. Good to hear from an old chuck. 80 in Big D on friday going to go down with C Ball and do some more hills.

The fat lady sang

Well back in the world of snow and dirt. The snow is starting to melt away with the warm days, and leaving behind a lot of sand and dirt...This trip to Az was by far one of the best that we have had. Great weather and the kids were good. We finished up our Moab trip on sat morning and I did my loop through Arches, it was so nice to see the park on a bike instead of a car. I do have to say that my legs started to give out from all the ridding that I had done over the week. After finninshing up my first day of work yesterday I went out on the bike to keep my ridding streak going and went and did some hills. I felt good to be home in the sun and going up the hills here by the house. Now I wait for the Wily and dream about the day i get to hit the dirt on my new rig.....

Fun Hater

Left the valley of the sun today and went to moab.. Had a good week of work on the bikes 230 mile before I left the valley and it was good. Between riding the road and zipping around on the single my legs feel good. After getting to moab today I went and rode slick rock which is tough as is but throw i na sinlg with no shocks at all is some thing else. It always fells good to pull off that ride with nothing broken, this time I had a smaller gear thatn last time so it was a little more work.... Good food tonight and some beer that we brought with. Tomrrow I am going to give a road ride through arches a try. I would love to see 300 mile for all of vacation.... This is the last night,,, then back to work........

Why don't they make burly trailers for big people

Another good day..... The sun was not out in full force so I did not get to sun baked like yesterday. I went around the McDowell Mnts.. which is a nice day on the bike. I got to ride through fountain hill which has the countries largest fountain. This is also a new area with brand new pavement which is so nice so ride on. After all that I got to ride up 10 mile hill which is not that steep it just goes and goes and goes... All in all another 50 miles with 170 for the past 4 days the legs fell great and my knee is working. We might see rain tomorrow and I think I'll go for another MTB. ride , he desert after the rain is soo nice..... Four more day of vacation then back to the snow.......

OK,,, You all have seen raising Arizona right? Well today I got to spin through a spot in the desert where they shot the movie.. It always makes me laugh and think of the big crazy guy on the motorcycle. The knee brace one again is working and making things feel good. Two and a half hours and 50 miles that makes me happy I was able to pull off a 19 mile adv speed and the legs just felt geat.. as long as I get good sleep tonight I would love to wake up and get another two hours in. Went to the Zoo today with the kids and Grandpa and james was soo in to it. At first he was a little worried about the big animals but once he saw the lions he figured it all out and started to have fun.. Going to eat some good food tonight and drink some beer and sleep so tomorrow I can do it all over again..,... It fells so good to be out in the Wily team gear flying down the roads in the valley of the sun..

Knee braces and happy faces

Well on doctors orders i got my self a brace for my knee cap. WOW... I went out to the desert with the ten year old and we rode single track for an hour and a half.. such a nice morning with every thing in bloom and thing running so nice. Sophia did a good job, the new sid world cup from cball made her ride soooo smooth. I was riding on my fully stiff voodoo and flying through the desert on that was a treat sooo smooth even with out a shock.. After the one we call James woke up from nap I went back out to ride the road bike and again no knee problems.. Did another hour or so and things were good. I hope this is the fix for at least now. Tomrrow I'll go out for a bit longer of a ride and see if thing work out again.... But for know life is swell.........

Day One

Well I went out today in the valley of the sun and I was a great morning. I did have a bout of knee pain and worked through it. Two hours and i was done. I talked to another doctor today about my knee and he said to try to use a knee sleve that will help keep my knee cap in place.. Will give a try....Mtb tomrrow with the kid...

With a little help from my friends

Well the Voodoo is up and running. It all cam e togother a hair over 21 pounds. I have to thank all those that helped, Coach with the break and levers , Bear with the cranks, Heckler Dan for the fork and most off all the Jack Man for the frame.. Now all i need to do is be able to ride it. It will be a full week of no riding at all when i throw a leg over a bike again. If all goes well the vacation that I set out on tomrrow will be a blast. The kid got her sid world cup on today and a new rear derailur so she should be even faster........Next stop AZ...

Starbucks in a REI????????

Put in a little over 100K yesterday with herb.. It went well even with the knee pain popping up around 50 K . We started off in Morrison and went all the way to Chattfeild Rez. And then from there we went all the way downtown. It was nice to start the day off with hills and then some flasts in the middle. We even got to have a mid ride coffee at starbucks and I could not belive that it was in the REI. Now you can get all jacked up when you buy your over priced gear. I felt strong just need to get the knee under control. I am going to try my other pair of shoes that have more play in the cleat , this might let my knee move around more.. I just want it to stop....

My neighbor and co-woker the Jack-Man threw me a big hook today.. He gave me a voodoo wanga frame that was given to him... It was a frame that was found at last years town clean up day. He did not need it, he just got hime self a brand new cannondale scaple. Any how i am going to build it up for vacation. I got a surly fork from dan heckler and herb has some breaks for me , to finnish it out I have a King front wheel and a Nuke Proof rear wheel . The small bits are not as high end but it will work and ride fast and strong. A stiff steel beast.. When I stop in flag iam going to try to find Mr. Murry and see if it can get the rear cut for a single so I don'e have to have a chin tightner.. The weather in big D is going to be warmer on friday so Herb and I are going to go down and do some road ridding. This will be a nice thing , getting out before the vacation and warming up for some big miles........

Buffalo Bill rides again

Got out and rode to the grave of Buffalo Bill on Friday but things weren't working as planed.. I started having the knee pain again after a hour on the bike. This suck for many reasons but mainly because I was felling so strong. Tomrrow I am going to see the Doctor and see if he/ she has any ideas/.... Still no bike it is still getting welded and then needs to be painted. Slow is better than fast but it would still be nice to have a mtb. for vacation,, in 11 days. This will be a nice break from the snow and the cold, I just hope that the knee is working so i can start logging some miles in the dry warm air of Scottsdale. I turned coach on to ZEN ARCADE which is some of the best stuff the three guys from husker du ever put out, pure clean noise. Feedback makes me smile..,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,

It is a good thing

It is a good thing that Texas is as big as it is. This way all the good old boys in their giant SUV'S can drive around and stop and go where ever they want. This week they showed up and not just a few but a hole shit ton.. The whole state from collage to grade school on spring break. Don't get me wrong it is a good thing because they come and spend lots and lots of money which helps our town. It is just that they have thier heads shoved up thier asses so far that they just do as they want. I would love to go on vacation in a one horse town and be a jack ass. But that is not our style, we tend to try and blend in..... The sun came out today and the snow on the roads started to melt, and I think that the big D is dry so i'll go for a ride friday and try to log some good miles. Going solo unless someone wants to go. I need to put in good miles before I go on vacation and act like a jack ass..

Smooth inside and slow outside

Well the rest week is over.. I only rode to work this week and did not do any thing else. So yesterday I jumped on the trainer and rode for a good while taking it easy at first making sure that my knee did not start hurting again. So far so good. When this was not enough and I need to get out doors I headed up to the nordic center and skated for almost 20K . After the ski and the bike I was good and tired. The snow was nice and freshly groomed it was just colder than my wax so it felt like I was working harder than I had to. Oh well it all pays off in the end. More snow on the way and 3 weeks until we can get out of this place and be warm for a week. Now if my bike could just get painted!!!!!!!

You can't be what you own

I took a rest day today.. I think that my legs needed it and I know that my brain could use it. It is hard for me to stop I am one of those folks that needs to keep on going. This is why it is nice for me to ride to work, because at least I am moving something. Made some really good chicken soft taco's and we all filled our bellys up good. The taste of cumin and lime makes me think of the southwest. I'll be there soon. I posted another link today one for Dara Marks Marino she is a friend from Flagstaff who helps keep up on the Steve Garro watch.. Give her a look and see what is going on in the land of sun and wind.....My inspiration now is the Super Suckers and Fugazi.Oh yea and cold beer after a long ride.

Good week

It was a good week even though i got my first cold of the winter and got hit by a bus. I some how managed to ride 140 miles between the single cross and the road bike. It has been warm here and only getting warmer. I am so ready for vacation. Check out the new links that I have posted both are some folks that are going to make the summer better and faster for me.. Now if I can jsut figure what is wrong with my right knee it has been hurtting me behind the knee cap... Long rides cold beer and warm air.....,.,.,.,

The snow is going

Went to the nordic center to work the legs and get the acid out. The snow is like mashed potatoes.... It skied good in some parts but in other it sucked so I did about 15K and called it quits.. The bike is calling and i want to answer the call it felt so good to ride and not be on the trainer.....It sounds like fridays are going to be big hard work days and that sounds good to me.Bring it on bring it on...........Now time to got to E Rocks and eat wings......

Deer Creek

Yesterday is what I needed, Not as long as I wanted but good none the less.. Herb and I started out of morrison and headed out to Ken Caryl and started to go up. It is a whole differnt world on the other side of the rock out cropping. The sun was out and it was warming up by the time we made it to the bottom of Deer Creek. Neither of us knew how far or how long the climb would be when we started up, taking turns up front we were climbing any where from 10 to 13 miles an hour, you could hear Phil Liget and Bobby Roll the whole way up. The fun thing about this hill is it didn't stop, it just kept going and going. We dropped a cupple of older skiiny guys on really nice bikes 1/2 way up and every so often we would look over our shoulders to where they were and the chase was on.... We were not going to get caught at least not today. We creasted the top and desended a bit thinking that it would go back up but we came to a T in the road and not knowing the area we headed back up and down what we had just climbed.. The climb it self was just over 9 miles with a lot of vert, again just what i needed, can't wait to do it again with out a head cold. We ended the day going out to chatfeild and the aroud Bear Creek lake and back to the car. 3:30 min 100K and an avg speed of 17 miles a good day ,.,. Got home and my new kit came in the mail and then I drank my first beers in 4 day with some good thai food...Ring of fire????

Another one rides the bus???

Ok I am not bitching but part of my job is to help the streets crew get the snow off the sidewalks and the roads. Well yesterday I was doing this and all was going well until I got sidswiped but a ski area bus. I say all of this with a half smile because it is not every day that you get to say that you got hit by a bus.. No one was hurt and my sidewalk plow(holder)was not hurt. I did how ever break 4 pair of skis that were in teh ski rack and two mirrors on the bus. It is hard to day but it was not my fault because i was onthe sidewalk working and that being the case we public workers have some right of way...She the bus driver should have slowed down and at lesat let me get out of the way but, that is not how they think. All in all it was a fun day of work because again in is not every day that you can say that you were hit by a bus..What i need now is a cold beer and sleep then on friday ride my bike till I puke>>>Yea that is the ticket/.,,./.,./.,/.,./.,/,/,/.,/,/,/,/,.
